Q: can i reuse a cement pan in my shower? what should i use for the walls in the shower? how do i make sure the walls and the pan don't leak?
I am remodeling my shower have taken down the walls and still have the cement pan which is 2-4 inches of cement which looks like it is held by a lead base which has the drain in it which they poured the cement over it. so i want to try to reuse the pan (i don't have much time or money my wife is due in 3 weeks with our first baby). what can of option do you think will be best?
A: Reuse and Regret
Short answer is no.
If you attempt to reuse the pan you may damage it and cause issues when it comes to tiling. At Southwest Granite & Glass we always use the Kerdi system for waterproofing. Do yourself a favor and spend a little money now it will save you later.
