Q: Is ceramic tile good to use for crown molding?
I really like the look of decorative tile. I am trying to decide on whether to use it as a mid wall level crown molding around my bathroom. While I like the idea of this type of placement, I am curious to get some ideas about what types of tile is used for crown molding.
A: Crown moulding or chair rail?
Not sure we are talking about the same thing. Crown moulding is generally covers the angle between the wall and ceiling.
Mid level would be chair rail or panel cap if it's wainscoting. The answer is sure, It's done quite a bit. I prefer to tile the bottom portion of the wall with field tile and cap it at "chair rail" height with matching trim piece. The height can match up to other elements in the room
The best answer to what type is to go to a full service tile store and check out their trim pieces. There's a wide variety to pick from
