Q: What are the pluses and minuses of granite counters in the bathroom?
We are planning on redoing our master bathroom. I think I might like to put in granite counters. Are there any negatives to using granite in the bathroom? Besides its attractiveness, are there any additional positives I might not know about? What other stones are good choices for bathrooms? Thanks.

Granite is a great choice for a master bathroom vanity countertop. Not only does it add value, but is durable. One thing to keep in mind is the color and porosity of the granite chosen. Lighter colors can absorb and show stains moreso than darker colors, however if you keep the tops sealed it will not be an issue. Sealers for granite can be purchased at most home centers and are very easy for a homeowner to apply. Although most sealers will direct you to apply every 3-5 yrs. I would go ahead and seal them once a year for piece of mind.
