Greenwood, INA: Drop-in versus undermount sinks
There is nothing wrong with eiather type, but each has its own advantages and disadvantages:
Drop-in sinks are typically more affordable and can be removed easier which means they can be changed out more frequently depending on decor, wear, etc. One of the disadvantages is water, soap, etc. tends to "hang up" on the mounting lip of those sinks.
In comparison, under-mount sinks are usually more expensive and harder to remove and replace. But, debris from the countertops can be wiped off directly into the sink making clean-up a snap. In our area, we typically see undermount sinks utilized with granite and other types of stone, along with solid-surface countertops.
Drop-in sinks still dominate the laminate countertop market.
