Q: How many coats of paint is too many?
We have repainted one room of our home 20 times over the last 10 years. Will it begin to flake? If so, what should I do to prevent the problem?

As long as you apply even coats you will be fine. If or when you paint again try to pick colors that will cover in one coat( to avoid extra coats ). Remember priming is only nesisary for new sheet rock or new wood surfaces, anything else is just over kill. Paint stores like to push for a prime coat inorder to boost their sales. Paint will stick to older paints just fine. As far as peeling or flaking gose, scrape, patch (if neede ) and sand those areas, spot prime and touch up paint if or when nesisary.
