Q: How much does professional decorative painting cost?
I think decorative painting can be a beautiful addition to a home. How much does professional decorative painting cost? Is it super expensive? Fairly reasonable? Thanks!

This is what I do every day and it still is hard to give you a direct answer with out seeing or knowing what you want so here it goes. I contract in california and to cover my insurance and over head cost my bids run on the average of 40 to 50 an hour now thats here in caly. So a three bedroom two bath interior will come out in the six to seven thousand doller price range. I know that number scares the hell out of you but the good news is that includes two caots and a three coler scheem. Wich means your ceiling and trim are in one coler and your walls are what ever you want. This allows the decorater to do her or his thing and for us to mantain production keeping our prices competitive. And yes decortive painting is exspensive but well worth it. You must hire a interior decorator and a dam good painting contractor.

Decorative painting is a beautiful addition - putting a price to it, though is not easy!
First: there are different styles of decorative paining: faux finishes, tromp-l'oie, murals...
Second: It depends how complex the process is: How many layers are required to create the effect, how large is the area, how artistically difficult is the project?
I would figure out what I want (collect pictures from magazines etc.) and get estimates from professionals. The more precise your input is the easier it will be to compare estimates.
