Q: Can I use my shark steam cleaner on my sealed hardwood floors?
I am afraid to use my shark steam cleaner on my new, sealed hardwood floors. I tend to wreck everything I get and this is one things I don't want to mess up. I have seen commercials for the steam cleaner that say it is okay to use on hardwood, is that true or will I cause damage?

We never recommend steaming hardwood flooring. It may seem fine after an initial treatment, but moisture and wood do not mix, and eventually, wood may become warped or uneven because of steaming- this is because steam can go beyond the surface and permeate the wood's interior layers. A better way to clean woods is to use a dry mop with a light mist/spray, or to polish with a product designed for natural woods.
A good product line to use is the Bona Kemi hardwood cleaners. They come in spray bottles, larger refill bottles, and also in a spraying-mop (similar to the Swiffer style dust mop). These are products we endorse and sell to our own customers, and they tend to be popular among our clients.
