Q: How high can the moisture level be before it isn't a good idea to install hardwood flooring ? Lowes won't install if the level is over 14.
I want to replace carpet and parquet flooring with hardwoods and the moisture level is between 14 and 16.5 using a meter used by a professional hired by Lowes Home Improvement. In don't kmow if LOwes levels are too rigid or should I not pursue installing wood floors.

Lowes is simply protecting their installation. If you a moisture content level above 14% than you have some serious moisture issues in your subfloors. They might have uncovered a can of worms Sherry. I am sorry to give you this kind of news. There could be access water damage.
How many places did they take a moisture reading? I hope several points around your home. What type of flooring are you looking to install? There are many options out there. I would look at having a few certified flooring contractors come inspect your home. Check the crawl space, maybe even have a plumber come out and inspect the plumbing for a leak around the foundation.
