Q: Acacia for flooring?
I saw some cool handscraped Acacia flooring material. Has anyone had experience with it? I've also seen multiple Janka hardness ratings for it...do folks know it's hardness?

Gilroy, CAA: Acacia Is An Exotic Walnut
Hi Drew,
I don't know much about Acacia flooring. I do not sell it. However, I do know it is a form of walnut. To answer your question about the hardness I do know it is an exotic species. It is much harder than oak flooring.
A hand scraped walnut can be very expensive, but extremely durable and I can imagine it would be a beautiful addition to any home or business.
In my years of the Bay Area of California selling hardwood flooring I have never been asked about this species. I would be curious to find the Janka scale you found this species on.
