Q: What is the best way to remove old linoleum flooring?
We are trying to remove very old linoleum tiles from a store and the adhesive is proving very difficult to remove from the hardwood flooring. We have considered scraping, sanding and even using Krud Kutter, which is not very cost effective for the size.

Anyone have any suggestions on the best approach.

A: Chances are if it's pre 80's era vinyl sheet flooring....
It's more than likely asbestos. I recommend getting it tested before you do anything. Especially if it's a commercial building as that carries hefty EPA federal mandated fines for disturbing without testing

San Carlos, CAA: The best way to remove lino tile from concrete
I start off by saying, I agree with the Jason. If it was installed pre 1978 it has asbestos in it.
If not and/or you take precausion you should use a self-propelled or ride-along scraping machine. You can usually rent them at your local equipment rental shop. They come weighted and you change out the razor sharpe blades as you need.
Warning, Do not get the one that isn't self-propelled it's not strong enough and your not strong enough to push it hard enough. So don't waste your time.
