Q: Nervous to clean my wood floors myself - any instructions?
We just moved into our first house, which has beautiful new hardwood floors. I feel a little nervous cleaning them. Since we did not install the floors, we didn't get any instructions from the floor installer on how to clean them. Can a flooring installer or sales person tell me how to wash these floors? Some specific details would be great. I know that murphy's oil soap is typically recommended. But, I'd love to know how wet the mop should be. How should you dry the floors? Can they just air dry? Thanks for the advice!!!

San Diego, CAA: Cleaning Wood Floors
Cleaning your wood floors is a simple process. The first step is to dust your floors thoroughly to avoid scratches. Dust and tracked in dirt are the biggest danger to your wood floors. Dusting is best achieved with a vacuum without the beater bar. Do not use oil soaps or other household cleaners. Sometimes vinegar is recommended to clean wood floors however it does nothing to remove grease or oil. It is best to purchase a product that is specifically made for wood floor cleaning such as Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner which is available at various retail locations.
