Q: How much should carpeting cost?
I am confused about how to price carpeting. Can someone please give me suggestions on what to look for while carpet shopping and what comparisons to judge by?

A:
The question is too relative to answer without many answers to questions that are needed. Typically, consumers do not know how to use and maintain a floor before they purchase it. And this becomes a learning curve that can require replacement in a short period of time. There is no carpeting that is made for pets, just humans. Questions may include:
1. Where is it going to be applied?
2. What kind of maintenance tools are now presently being used.
3. What kind of environment, inside and out, will the carpet want to survive.
4. ETC.
Cost is also relative to who manufactures the product, the retailer, and where its going to.
In an optimal condition, a lesser or apartment grade carpet only may only cost $5.00 per yard.
Nonetheless, carpet has not kept up with inflation for decades, and it has the best value for floor covering.
