Q: What's the most durable green flooring?
I am redoing my family room and have caught the going green fever. What is the most durable flooring that I can put in that room (since I have children running around)? I am also looking for something that isn't totally hideous. Any suggestions?

Bamboo is probably your best bet.
A truly renewable resource, bamboo, a member of the grass family, is one of the world's most environmentally friendly building products. Unlike wood, bamboo will continuously develop new growth from its underground root system. And bamboo can grow as tall and as thick as trees, but can fully regenerate in 5 years (that’s 8 times faster than wood) making it infinitely more sustainable than wood. It is also very durable, and has a natural, clean look that is neutral enough for most decorating schemes.
I would recommend checking out these brands:
Eco Timber, & Teragren. Both are reputable, popular bamboo lines.
