Q: How long does it take to remodel a kitchen?
What is the range of time it general takes to remodel a kitchen? We are thinking about redoing our kitchen, but know that it can be a major inconvenience. Given that we have little ones (4 and 9 months), we're wondering if it's plausible to do a remodel right now. Thanks.

Hey Trent,
Our kitchen remodel took somewhere between 6 to 8 weeks. We were having custom cabinets built and installed, so that may have lengthened the project. Like you, we also have little ones and we were able to get by. It required a lot of eating out of the microwave, but it really wasn't that bad. Just keep your old refrigerator and your microwave and move them to another room for the duration of the project. We love our new kitchen, so it was definitely worth it. For what it's worth, I would say go for it.
Hope that helps.

It all depends of course, but I know that most of the cabinet companies I deal with are 4-5 weeks out from the time you order until the time the cabinets arrive. Tack on design time ahead of it, and install time behind it... Then there's the countertop lead time, and you shouldn't really measure for the countertop until the cabinets are installed.
It takes a while.
