Q: If you have hardwood floors, should you install white cabinets?
If you have wood floors in your kitchen, should you choose white cabinets? Or, if you go with wood cabinets, how should you choose the wood? Obviously, there needs to be some sort of contrast. Our house has medium colored wood floors - fairly light. We'll look to match that color in the kitchen remodel.

This is truly a question of personal preference. I myself once had white cabinets and I can tell you that if you have children you will regret it. They become very visably dirty and you will spend a lot of time cleaning them. In terms of wood cabinets, there are several ways you can go. You can choose to match the cabinets and flooring or you can choose a contrasting species to compliment your floor. As wood is a natural product, I like to pull from the other natural elements that may be in the room to tie things together. The best advice I can give you is to go find a kitchen design site and look through the photo galleries. You will know exactly what you like and don't like by seeing the finished product. You don't remodel a kitchen everday so it's best that you get it right the first time.
