Q: How should I pick the materials if I want to use different countertops for over my cabinets and on my kitchen island?
I recently saw a model kitchen that had different countertops on the normal counters and on the kitchen island. I loved the contrast they achieved by choosing different materials. If I want to go with this look, how should I choose the two materials? Are there particular materials that play well together? Are there particular materials that won't go well together? In the model, they had a light marble and a greenish stone (maybe marble too). It was really beautiful. Are there other good combos like some kind of stone and butcher block?
