Q: What the best flooring option for a kitchen remodel?
I really like hardwood flooring but not quite sure it is the best a kitchen. Not a big fan of vinyl, laminate, bamboo. Don't mind tile, but how do I decide? I'd like to get some ideas from other home owners and kitchen remodelers who have made this similar decision.

In my opinion, this really comes down to personal taste. There are pros and cons for either hardwood or tile. One consideration is who lives in the home? Do you have small children or pets? I can tell you from experience that kids will get in cupboards and drop cans on hardwood floors, leaving dents. Not a huge deal if minor. Similarly, dogs can sometimes scratch hardwood flooring. Tile, in some respects, is a much more durable product for the kitchen. It resists damage caused by moisture, scratching, etc. but can be uncomfortable for ones feet and legs if standing for a long time. That being said, we are seeing hardwood flooring being selected more frequently than tile.

A: Best flooring option for a kitchen remodel
I agree with Jason G in that it comes down to personal taste. As a hardwood floor manufacturer I am biased :) . Selecting engineered hardwood flooring where moisture is a concern you must consider the manufacturers glueing process. Just using water resistant glue is not enough. A sample of our flooring survived 48 hours in water unscathed but samples from other manufacturers completely fell apart.
