Q: Can you lat a tile over glue down linoliun?

I agree with Jason above, stating that you can lay a tile underlayment over linoleum and then lay your tile. You should not lay tile directly to linoleum or vinyl floors because the thin-set will adhere to it. Usually it is not too difficult to pull of the old linoleum floor up. A hand scraper will usually do the trick, but if it is stuck a little harder than that you can rent a mechanical floor scraper for about $50/day. I hope this additional information is helpful. In short, yes. Meaning you may be able to install tile underlayment directly over the linoleum in preparation for the installation of tile. However, this may be a problem if the linoleum was installed over a wood or particle board underlayment and the extra height/thickness of the floor would be an issue.
