Q: When restoring a period house, such as a craftsman house, what resources can we use to make sure we remain faithful to the style and the period?
My wife and I recently bought a craftsman house. We want to restore it in a way that is appropriate to the original period (1918) and the style. Where should we begin? What research would you suggest? What steps should we take? I assume most experts would recommend hiring a restoration expert and an architect? What if we want to do the planning ourselves? Is that ill-advised? Thanks.
