Q: Why are my windows starting to rot along the bases?
My windows panes are getting mushy. I do not know why and I need help because I know it will only get worse. Can someone please give me some advice on how to fix this issue?

If you have wood exterior and interior windows usually rain will eventually break down the glazing between the sash and the glass. It is vary important to caulk the exterior edge around glass to prevent water from penetrating. Also make sure a sprinkler head is not spraying on windows.
Mushy sounds like it might be too late and they need to be replaced. If not try scraping loose paint caulking like I mentioned above(use quality caulking product like OSI quad seal or NPC Solar seal) and if you can dig out soft spots and fill with wood bondo then paint. I would recommend checking these twice a year for repairs. Eventually they will need to be replaced.
I'm going to guess you have a home built between 1985 and 1995. Most of our business is from homes these ages because of the same problems.
Hopefully this advice helps.
