Q: How much does it cost to insulate an attic? (2300 sq ft house)
My house is a 2300-sq-ft two story home. I honestly have no idea how many sq ft the attic is. However, it basically covers the entirety of the house. Roughly how much would it cost to insulate the attic? Any ideas? I hear this is a huge step towards reducing heating/energy bills and I would like to find out how much this would cost. Thanks.

This answer is "it depends." To have a better answer for you, we would need more information. You need to decide which type of insulation you would like to go with as well as how much. Insulation is measured by R-value. R-values are determined based on the material type as well as the depth. Most consumers are moving forward with Blown-in cellulose or Fiberglass insulation. I would advise getting an in-home estimate. But if you want a back of the envelope..... Usually it is $1500-$2500 to get people to a healthy R value in the northeast. CA would need less....
