Q: Should I ask a contractor if they are licensed?
I am remodeling my house and I have several contractors bidding on the job. So far I received many proposals; some cheap, some expensive. Does licensing affect the pricing? Do I need to ask them if they are licensed or all contractors licensed?

Yes, most states require contractors to be properly licensed. It’s the law. Have your contractor show you his license or make a copy of it for you. A contractor should NOT be hired if they cannot provide valid licensing. If you are not sure check with your state’s Secretary of State office. It should be accurately reported there.
