Q: How do I stop condensation from forming in my exterior walls?
Took drywall and insulation off an exterior wall and found frost. Seems to be conducted by the siding nails. Walls are 2x4 with R11 insulation. No idea what is under the siding. guessing tar paper, wood siding and the newer vinyl siding. No evidence of pink foam between them.

A: need more info
Without knowing what is on wall, there's no way to know for sure what's going on. Felt paper being poorly installed, or missing all together could definitely lead to this. Best fix would be a house wrap such as Tyveck along with a "fanfold" type of insulation but this can be costly!

GUNGARLIN, IAA:
Condensation occurs due to excess of moisture in air, when warm or moist air comes in contact with cooler surface. The only solution to reduce condensation is to have proper ventilation. You should install a better ventilation system like ventis that reduces the moisture level from air.
