Q: What are common causes of job delays during remodeling projects?
How can we help avoid these common causes and delays? What sorts of things are unavoidable? When do we need to be flexible? Thanks.

Greenwood, INA: Remodel project job delays
By far the most common cause of delay on a remodel job is material selection and arrival. For instance, cabinets can take 4-6 weeks. If the selection is not made on a timely basis, it can throw the whole schedule off. Other items that have been problematic is special order tiles and specialty fixtures.
It is important that the contractor "earmark" certain target dates for certain selections based on the information on hand. That will lead to a smooth-running job with minimal delays.
