Q: Is now a good time to remodel?
Would it be worth the investment? The economy is still working through a recession and the value of my home is low. Will remodeling my kitchen, bathroom, landscaping, etc help out my cause?

Woonsocket, RIA: Answer: It depends
This is a difficuly question to answer with complete certainty but...
#1 First thing is first, financing. If you have enough funds in savings or can access capital via a HELOC or some other loan, go for it. Otherwise, wait. There is no point in stretching yourself to thin if you aren't financially stable.
#2 Tax Credit - If any of your upgrades fall under the tax credit umbrella, why wait? You could save up to 30% if you install before 2011. Tax Credit Guide Here: http://www.moonworkshome.com/home-improvement-resources/home-improvement-tax-credits-explained/
#3 Cash-in Refinance - Rates are at historic lows! If you don't have enough equity, pay for some home improvements so you can take advantage of these times. We just wrote a blog on this topic here: http://www.moonworkshome.com/Blog/bid/43686/Cash-in-not-out-Refinancing-Is-it-Right-for-You
Hope this helps.
