Q: What's the best way to remove a large area of ivy and not worry about it growing back?
I have a large front yard with very unsightly ivy and would love to remove and re-plant. My fear is the roots will remain and live to see another day.

My expierience says if it is space friendly then bring in a small excavator (Bobcat with arm and bucket, about $300 a day at most rental spots). This will eliminate most of the stringy roots. Then prior to replanting I would lay some landscape cloth to catch wandering Ivy.
