Q: Any good, affordable tips for enhancing curb appeal?
Hi, my husband and I are going to list our home in a few months. Do any experts (or homeowners) have some good, easy, and cheap tips on enhancing curb appeal. 4 or 5 affordable tips would be great!

Curb appeal is a big theme used a lot these days. The basic premise is that you want your potential buyer to be "wowed" driving by or walking up to the front door. Here are my favorite inexpensive ideas: 1. Exterior paint, how does yours look? Is it a 20 year old color? If the condition of your paint is ok and just dated, a simple coat of new paint can freshen the look. 2. How does your entry door look? If it is old or damaged consider replacing it. If it is in good shape consider painting it a color to accent the exterior paint colors. 3. Landscaping of the front yard, take a step back (across the street) and decide if yours looks good. Some sod or colorful plants along an entry way can really add to a look. 4. Exterior lighting, how does your home look at night? Adding a nice light fixture next to the front door or flanking the garage can add a little class. Do you have a nice tree or other landscape feature that should be accented? Consider some small solar powered spot lights to add a little under lighting. Also think of adding some solar landscape lights along your entry sidewalk. A lighted pathway at night looks inviting.
The biggest thing to remember is that every home buyer has his/her own idea of what "curb appeal" is, and every buyer has his/her own ideas of what they are going to do to your home when they buy it. Do not paint your home with wild colors, do not spend a lot of money on concrete walkways or other permanent features that cannot be easily changed, it may work against you. Stay conservative and classy with your color selections. If you have difficulty in this department, most designers can help you decide a color palette for less than $200. If you need a new entry walkway consider flag stone or something similar that can be lifted up easily once your home sells. Good luck with the sale!

I agree with the above poster: fresh paint and a well-maintained yard are the biggest things to be aware of. Good luck!
